Default Frozen ears!!!

Happy New Year all!

Oscar and I are so happy the snow is here and we can go to the community garden (there's lots of good smells there, you know) and the dog park to romp through the snow. Santa was nice and got him a doggy blanket, and despite the funny jock-strap thingy that goes around his back legs, he absolutely loves it! He even lies on it like a blanket when we get home.

The issue here in the great white north is the cold weather has arrived with the snow (-25C here this weekend), and after only a 15 minutes or so, Oscar's long ears start to get covered in the white stuff and freezes. He's still full of energy and wants to play but I can tell his ears are bothering him. I have tried neck warmers, and even cut the top off an old toque (knit cap to y'all Americans) and tried that and even a scarf, but his ears slip out the minute he lifts his head.

Have any of you found anything that works to keep his ears up and keeps them warm?

Howdy Oscar and momma welcome!

One thing you can get him is called a snood – below is a link for you so you can see what they look like – then do some searching to see where they have the best delivery and cost for your area.

Best of luck and please post some photos for us – we love lots of photos – can’t get enough.

Hi and welcome. Just like houndmomma said a snood would be good. Etsy is a really good site they have some polar fleece ones on there too.

houndmama, those look very interesting but am wondering do they object to wearing them? Do they try to paw them off? Barney's ears always seem wet from one thing or another and can imagine that it won't take much to have them frozen.

My guys don't seem to mind their snoods. They wear them at shows to keep their ears clean.

Here's Deela showing off her Halloween snood.

Lady's momma, check into a spaniel bowl (I just learned of and bought one myself) does wonders for keeping the ears out of the water bowl.
