Unhappy WOW – Lucy had a BIG scare today

The gang was on their Moring walk – we live by a bike trial that goes through our subdivision and ends up at the park (which the kids love) because they ALWAYS stop cold any game or practice because everyone wants to give them belly rubs – but that’s off topic. So anyway, last year there was a lot of construction done on all the drainage throughout the subdivision. With the snow we’ve had the last couple day’s, hubby and the girls didn’t see that someone must have removed one of the drainage covers – and Lucy fell through and dropped like a brick in the water to the bottom. With all the water and as deep as it was we were lucky that hubby was able to fit into it and get her out fast enough. He said it was a little too close a call for his comfort. She’s all dry now, shaken and has a slight limp – and other than being cold to the bone she’s doing OK.

And how was your day?

Jen~

OMG Jen, How terrifing...my heart literally fell when I read this. I am having such a hard time with Miss Paris. Can you bubble wrap a basset? She is so good about pottying on her puppy pads that I am terrified to have her out to potty. When I get a phone call from home at work, I break out into a cold sweat when I answer it.

Poor Lucy, I have a heated throw that my babies love (2 and 4 legged) wish I could send you one to wrap her in to warm her up. Give her extra bellyrubs from me.

Kristi

Oh My God Annie – I didn’t even think of it in that way. I’m not sure how big of a drop it was – just that hubby said it was a good thing he was there or she wouldn’t have been able to get out herself – and with her weight, size of the hole and water he had a hard time getting her out. I’ll have to ask him when he wakes up.

He said that he could tell Lucy was scared and knew she was in a pickle the way she was looking at him. I’ll ask him when he wakes – I’ve already called the Village to report it – but with it being the weekend – had to leave a message. We have a lot of kids in the area and it was right by a big hill that all the kids and the girls like to slide down with the snow – so I’m worried that one of the kids also falls in it.

Oh, Kristi I can just imagine – I’ll send you a link to what I always had Mabel hooked up to for a long time when we got her – so if she did manage to get out – we had the light weight lead to grab onto since she was so fast. Thanks for the idea on the heated throw – I don’t have one of them – but I have a heated blanket I have packed away – I’ll go dig that out and wrap her in – thanks for the great idea.

She’s getting extra belly rubs and treats. And for dinner she’s getting some chicken and rice – one of her favs

OMG, glad she's ok Jen. Poor baby. Our family cocker chased a duck on an icy pond once and went through. I was in upto my waist without thinking. It was soo cold, so I know how Lucy feels! Maybe she needs a Baileys for medicinal purposes (kidding)

Marilyn Monroe used to give her basset whiskey all the time. Though more to combat his depression than to keep him warm.
