Default bit of help on upset stomachs please!

oky doky.... delicate subject horace has the trots ( uk term) not foulf smelling or foamy, hes bright as a button and eating a drinking fine, which is pointing me to his diet...... though hes on bulk standard winalot and mixer which is what he wa in at the kennels......... he was wormed on weds which prompted a massive evacuation but nothing major, enjoyed a good walk today and then this evening had an accident.....first one in a week, tried to eat it to cover up ( this is behaviour from his abuse we know) only guessed when the smell permeated the lounge..... we were all calm, he needed a wash as had walked through it which hasnt helped, asked to go out and again a huge movement all over the base of the birdbath and then ran back in......call me a neurotic new dad but am a nit panicked....was going to makensure he fasts for 12 hours then go for chicken and rice and some scramble egg? an ideas gratefully received ....... oh the humanity!!

Try some canned pumpkin (pure) or plain yogurt....it's suppose to help.

not likely unless you have other evidence of abuse. dog are scavanger that domesticvated themselves by living off of human garbage dump eating poop is the archivial diet for dogs!

Fasting you must be carefull of with a puppy the need lots of energy and missing meal can cause problems.

he was wormed on weds
consult with vet to see if this is a side effect of the medication,. 2 while occasional bout of diarrhea in an adult is rarely a problem it is easy for a puppy to become dehydrated which can lead to all sorts of complication including death it is not to be taken lightly with pups.

Boy do we feel for you here. Rosco has had the trots today too. Poor guy picked the one day when both the husband and I had to work. Needless to say my poor hubby came home to a MESS! Apparently Rosco decided to turn in a circle while going and we ended up with poo on his bed, all over the inside of his crate, on his sisters crate (right next to his), on the wall and on the carpet. Then he had another accident on the area rug in the livingroom while the hubby was cleaning up the other mess. Other than having diarrhea, he's acting just fine. We gave him some canned pumpkin with dinner tonight and he hasn't had anymore accidents. We're hoping it will pass quickly. Hope Horace is feeling better soon too!

I like the term the trots sounds so much nicer than diarrhea. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Definitely try the Pumpkin. For some unknown reason it works for both the trots (not solely a UK term!) and constipation. (recommended by my vet, he doesn't know why it works either, but it just does) Just the canned stuff you would buy to make a pie. I always keep some cans on hand. The gang also loves it in their Kong's (semi frozen to make it more interesting).

And for the record, you are NOT a neurotic new dad (no more neurotic than the rest of us!), just a loving dad.

BTW, how is Horace's separation issues going? Any progress?

The Trots could be dietary, stress, or just "life" (hey, don't we all get it on occasion). Go with chicken and rice and a "treat" of pumpkin. In my experience, that usually clears things up fairly quickly.
