OK, I know old dogs fart, but lord, Lightning could power a windmill with what he is putting out these days. And they really really stink, which they didn't before. Is this normal age-related stuff, or should I take him to the vet? I switched his food from Iams to Blue Max several weeks ago. Could that be causing the increased output? It's really getting to be a problem (for me at least).

It's quite normal, my last dog (15yrs old) was horrendous, some night I could hardly stay in the room it was so bad. It's not an age thing though - my two youngsters could melt paint with their contributions to global warming.
Could be the food. Light a candle. |

My last Basset Chloe her senior years were brutal. My mom n law used to think she was a methane plant. My younglings are fart free, unless they get a bite of pork or a brussel sprout. They are OFF limits in this house!

Oh no – poor you – I’d also go along with it being the food if she didn’t do it to this extent before you changed it on her. I’d burn the candle but – with a candle warmer – then you don’t have to worry about it blowing up your house
