Default UTI/incontinence

my 6 month basset just got spayed on friday. Before that, she has not peed in the house for about a month. 2 days ago, I saw that she had peed in the bedroom and then last night, she peed on the couch -- she has never peed on the couch since the day I got her. Could this be a uti or some type of incontinence from the spaying? I thought with UTI or incontinence they would be peeing in the house all the time? I have a vet appointment in a couple hours to see what they have to say. She also licks her vulva area alot after peeing.

I would suspect more of a stress/pain issue. Although it never hurts to have the vet check it out, I would be a little extra vigilant on the housebreaking front to make sure it doesn't become a habit.

That sounds eerily familiar to me! After her spay she got UTI after UTI. PB went on to wake me in the middle of the night to go out (which she had stopped doing previously) & would try & pee in 6 different spots each time she'd go out. So sorry for your fur baby... breaks my heart to see them uncomfortable.

Do you see her squatting a lot and only a little pee coming out? Is there blood in the urine - when you wipe it up, is the paper towel pinkish? Molly had a UTI a couple days after she was spayed. I called the doctor and he just prescribed antibiotics and it cleared right up. I'd call the vet and at least ask.

I dont see her squatting a ton, maybe 3 or 4 times. I havent noticed any blood. Her energy level is completely back to normal -- it was the next day after the surgery. I just dropped her off at the vet, so hope to find out soon. Even before the spay, she used to lick her vulva alot. The vet gave me these wipes in case it was an infection. It didnt change. The vet said this is something that will probably clear up after spaying -- but she still does it.

Occasionally, after a stress situation ,they may regress on the housebreaking.A UTI will cause this also and sometimes they just regress around the 6-9 month age. Which is why it is not safe to assume they are completely housebroken at such a young age. I agree with Soundtrack probably pain.
