Ok so i couldnt care less what anyone feeds there dog in this thred...however i am interested in what the things are you love that you will or will not feed your dogs!
As you know Henry is [cough cough as i hate to admit it] spoilt / or as i like to say it, a very lucky puppy dog! He gets within reason whatever he wants unless it is going to kill him. When i get steak [blue for me please, Hen prefers his medium] he gets steak, when i have BBQ, he gets BBQ [he is very fond of shrimp] but there is one thing that he does not get [ok he does but only the tiniest bit before anyone yells at me] and that is English chocolate. You all know i am English and a girl needs her home comforts. When the parcel arrives we both sit and savour the delicious milky goodness. Now usually Hen would get a fair sized basset portion of whatever i have, but when it come to dairy milk, he gets the tiniest sliver just so he thinks he had something [i try to tell him i dont eat his chicken jerky!] So what will you never share with your babies, and what exceptions do you make? And no i am not advocating giving people food or treats, im just wondering what you do cave in with lol! |

oh my that was the best part about having a puppy...being the first to let him try something for the very first time! Like shrimp (which he hated, and buried...guess he tought dead things should be buried *lol*) and LEMON, and he loves tomatoes!! We're a careful now, what we give him, because of his allergies....but the theme used to be, if mama was eating it, Bowser gets to try it!
He never had more than a bite of things, and he's as healthy as...well as a healthy basset can be. Not overweight or anything. I would have to say though, that his absolutely favorite thing is nachos. You see, dada is a nacho freak, and in the evenings he usually makes some....and makes a MESS. Chips and cheese on the floor, sometimes avocado, tomatoe, and sourcream...on the floor...*rolls eyes* doesn't last long on the floor around here. When we first got the Bow, we were on a salad kick, so he loves green pepper too. He will come running from the other room though if he smells tomatoes! anything else we've given him was just to try it that once. He doesn't get too many people treats anymore these days. Before i found out they were bad, Daisy's favorite thing was grapes. She'd play with them until she accidentally bit it through and then it was time to eat it.

I trained my peeples to always give me basset-sized portions of their meals too. i seemed to tolerate it well and loved eatine 'em. well, they esp can't stand that i drool when i watch them eat. so they at least gimme something to stop the drooling (i got the drooling thing down now... and it is WURKING to my advantage!) well, maybe i trained them too well, so as far as exceptions, it's cheese fondue & roast pig in the same night! we learned that lesson recently. haha. anything but that... i'll be bloggin' soon but one of my best new finds are mini hamburger patties. i mean mini. basset-size. i get one a night now, since i could still stand to gain some weight. yummers! --Worm

we like the crusts from his homemade pizza. he made sourdough bread this weekend and got to taste a smidgen of it. this was BC (before charlie) but when he human was training for the merrython he had pancakes every friday night for carbs in anticipation of the next day and I always got the first small one. we are both interested in the whole hot wings thing but they won't let us anywhere NEAR them. boo. hiss. |

Our hounds function under the "if it hits the ground it's mine" rule the only thing they haven't cared for so far is celery. Layla LOVES my homemade peanut butter cookies. It's the only thing she's every counter surfed for. Rosco will eat just about anything including the yet to be grilled cheese sandwich my mom left on the counter unattended.
Speaking of grandma's house. They get SPOILED there. They pretty much eat whatever we're eating. Bacon, sausage, eggs, liver, cookies, potato chips....you name it grandma gives it to them. Probably their most favorite thing at grandma's house it getting to eat any left over moist cat food.....however the gas that result from being at grandma's house can clear a room. |

Maggie will not eat french fries without ketchup nor popcorn without something sprinkled on it. Basically they will eat almost anything else. They get an ice cream cone from McDonalds after a visit to the vet and treats on their birthdays. So tomorrow should be a good day for them as Maggie has a wellness exam and Daisy has birthday #2.

Whenever I slice cheese for myself, I slice a bit off for the pups as well. When hubby and I take fish oil, the pups get fish oil. If I eat a sandwich, the pups get a crust.
