Default Stressed and frustrated

The pathology result for Gabby was that she has an oral melanoma which is far advanced, 100% risk of metasteses and no chance of surgical cure (although we've definitely bought her some time by removing what we could).

There is a new vaccine treatment that seems to be very successful at extending quality life (nearly a year as opposed to the 2-5 months we are looking at now), however it is only available through oncologists. It is four shots, two weeks apart, however they are over $500 each (plus the consult with the oncologist - another $170).

Between her and Melody I have spent nearly $3000 in the past two months and things are really tight, plus I have a litter of pups on the way and I have to be prepared for emergencies.

Gabby is definitely my baby, one of the best dogs ever, but I'm not sure I can manage this.

We will go for the consult and then I will have to do some serious number-crunching to figure out if I can rationally swing it.

Oh NO, I’m so very sorry to hear this Soundtrack. And wish I had words of comfort to offer – I know fist hand how fast all the medical bills can add up without blinking an eye. Is there a possibility that you’re vet will work with you on a payment plan? Or I know there are credit cards out there that vets and doctors works with that you can only use them in their office – and if you pay in the certain amount of time – there is no interest charged to you. I don’t know the name of them but sure if you call your vet they will have all the info.

I will continue to keep you and your babies in my prayers.

Hugs,
Jen~

So sorry to hear the news about Gabby. As if it wasn't bad enough dealing with these things money has to become a worry as well. Can you get a 0% credit card? At least it wouldn't cost you anything in interest and could help you spread the cost.

Drool and prayers for you at his sad time

I'm sorry to hear this. Decisions like these are terrible to make. I could honestly see the sense of either decision. Whatever you decide, I hope we can all be a comfort to you somehow.

I did ponder that idea, but I think the closest would be Cornell which is 4 hours away.

The other consideration, and it sounds callous, is she's 13 1/2. But she's in excellent health and condition for her age aside from the melanoma.
