Went to petsmart today and they had their sweaters 40% off so I bought one for my shivery Maggie May. Now, today, it is a balmy 68 degrees in Atlanta, but just this past week the temps dipped into the 20's. She has blown most of her undercoat since her spay in November so she was all shivery and pitiful.
Well, brought it home and got it on her with no problem. BUT as soon as she walked away from me she began to try her hardest to tear it off. She just kept on and kept on biting at the edges. At one point she had her nose buried in it to the point that she was blindly turning in circles and rammed her head into a dresser. I finally got her calmed down and distracted with a treat enough to get a photo (of course) but I took it off. Now I'm just wondering, how in the world do you get a dog to wear a sweater without tearing it off?!? Or is it just my Maggie?

Mine love their sweaters! Because they aren't made for bassets, they occasionally get a little tangled in them (like getting a foot stuck in a the arm hole). Maybe its just Maggie... =] Bet she couldn't get a Thundershirt off.

Well Miss Maggie May -- you look mighty fine in that sweater of yours with the pink trimming -- in fact you look a lot like me -- black and white -- makes us sooo pretty!!! Trust me -- you will wear that sweater when you get used to it -- believe me the 20's is quite balmy -- try -20 or maybe -40 -- my Ma makes me wear a quilted parka and hood and tucks my ears in and makes me look stooopid but guess what I just grin and bare it since it is sooo soo cold..... so far we haven't hit that kinda wather yet but its coming -- by the way my dad is embarrassed with the cloths she makes me wear but don't tell him I'm kinda embarrassed to be seen with him -- he wears a fur lined hat and muklucks!
