Default Quick Digestion

So I have a question about quick digestion.

She's gaining weight regularly, so the vet isn't too concerned.

Gwennie eats fast, digests fast. I'm talking like in and out in 10 minutes.

Is that normal?

To make matters worse, the quicker she digests, the more the...result...still tastes like food. So she turns around and eats it. (She won't eat other dogs' poops or the poops that --on the rare occasion--takes longer to digest.)

My experience has been that within 5-10 minutes of a meal, mine need to go out and do their business. I am not sure it is so much digesting of what they just ate, rather more than the habit of me putting them out as pups soon after eating or drinking (or sleeping)

I would guess that as long as she is growing and maintaining a healthy weight, she is doing well.

I would bet the actual meal gets digested and "removed" much later.

the act of eating stimulates peristalsys through the entire digestive tract, hence the need to go soon after eating/

when we eat, the process of eating stimulates waves of contraction throughout our entire GI tract. You know very well that as puppies nurse they defecate. That reaction is due to these waves of contraction, which are called peristalsis.
