Unhappy So sad & now I can't stay :-(

Hey everyone,

I found out today that the little girl basset I was going to adopt is no longer available. When I called the lady to confirm our plans for this Friday again her husband answered and he said someone picked her up the other day. I was confused at first but after asking a few questions realized the horrible and sad truth that my baby was adopted out to someone else and not held for me like planned. Needless to say I'm devasted and feel like I don't really belong here now since you all have bassets and now I dont . I want to thank everyone for such a warm welcome to my first post and I felt so at home here so fast that it would have been great to share experiences with you all. I am still feverishly looking for now a breeder since this other person was just a private person selling the pups but have come to find out that they are not so avail in my area as lots of other breeds.

I really hope i find someone reputable soon and if anyone in the SC area knows of one please feel free to give me their contact information. Well I'm gonna end this for now and maybe lurk a bit longer. I wish you all a very happy new year and many blessings to you and your bassets.

Stick around. Your bundle of joy and naughtiness will come along eventually. In the meantime, learn all there is to know about bassets.

Sorry this little girl didn't get to come home with you, but you'll find one. What about a rescue? Lots of people here can help you out. See, you still belong here!

Yes...stick around! My daughter and I wanted Basset puppies for Christmas...She searched and searched but really could'nt find them...and when she did they were really expensive...Reluctntely she went on puppyfinder.com and found ours. They both came from Kansas and are sisters. The cost for them was reasonable. It was a very big decision to buy online...but so far so good. I did talk to the breeders a few times on the phone...I believe they are reputible breeders. They had their first shots and wormed along with vet papers. This is my first experience with a basset...but as I said...it's going pretty good. Just the potty training is a little testy...but to be expected at this age. Good luck and keep us posted on your search. I feel so bad for you...but your bundle of joy will come...just keep on searching.

Sorry that must be very dissapointing but I agree stick around there is so much info on bassets here this way when you do get one you are doubly prepared. I agree check out a rescue there are lots of greats bassets that need homes. There are some good breeders on this site maybe they have some insight to some breeders in your area or the akc website can give you some options.
