Default Help me stop Simon....

Simon has a obsession with eating ( I hate to say this because it is so gross) my cats poop. Every time i put him out side he seems to know exactly where she's recently gone to the bathroom. And he proceeds to eat it. This disturbs me and i don't think it's very healthy for him to be eating something like that. Should i just not be letting him outside in the backyard any more? Or is there a different solution? I don't want Simon to get seriously sick by eating it all the time.

Annie loves the kitty roca as well.

A few suggestions:

Try to be as diligent as possible in picking up the cat poop. Work on a "drop it" command with Simon. Try to stop him before he gets his mouth on it.

Cover it in washing up liquid or pepper, should stop him.

Bella has a thing for fox doo doo, which isn't as easy to deter. And if she can't roll in it fast enough she picks it up and runs to the far end of the field to roll in it then proceeds to lick it off the grass. With me generally running behind her cursing a little bit.

Bowser had a thing for eating bark, when he was little (to the point of pooping one big piece out that i hadn't caught him eating, even hurting his little bum doing it!) I put Tabasco sauce ALL over it (it was just a patch in the back we use for a potty box)....he TRIED TO EAT IT MORE...little jerk. I finally just had to go out with him and each time he went for it, scold him. He finally grew out of it, thank goodness!

I can remeber catching my dogs snacking in the litter box if I let them get near it. I don't know if they eat my kitty's poop outside . One of my dogs went through a phase of eating the other dog's poop it just went away on its own. I would agree teach him a command to drop it when you catch him doing it. Dog do the grossest things sometimes.

Default I hope it stops soon..

My mother seems to think its because I've been putting salmon oil on his dog food to help with his skin condition and the cat eats salmon cat food. I'm going to have to watch the darn cat and start picking up after TWO animals now.. :S

I'm also going to try teaching him a DROP or LEAVE IT command. But Simon seems to ignore anything i say except "treat" haha.

We use a top entry litter box so our bassets can't get into the litter box. Both of them were litter stinkers. We had an issue with our rescue eating her own poop in the beginning and we were told to put a variety of things in it including pineapple and Tabasco sauce.

I put the litter box where Lightning can't get to it. He doesn't care. He has a full buffet outside.
