Default Winter Snood, winter requirement?

Our previous basset, Bailey, was not an outside dog. She took her walks grudingly, went out only to relieve herself. We didn't worry about her ears getting frostbitten or chilblains.

Our current basset, Sadie, loves being outside in any weather, even rain, and goes for walks minimum three times a day. This is our first winter with her and brings up the question of winter ear protection, insulated snoods. Is this something generally needed?, if so when? We would not leave her outside for more than a few minutes if it's in the teens or colder but we've had temps. in the twenty's and she's quite happy to lounge in the sun, go for the usual walks etc.

I think that, regardless of whether she needs it, I would make her wear snoods. It will make for great pix to post here, and that's really all that matters.

I love the idea of snoods, and expanding on the photo idea, why don't you post a video of you trying to put it on the pooch.

Please please please.

I think at the very least they would feel cuddly and warm. I noticed when Barney is out he will shiver. I also notice how cold his ears are when he comes in but he will still stay out and play in the yard so I don't know if it is totally necessary.

Jake & Abby love being out in any weather. Especially wind, I guess they like it blowing their ears! However, especially when it is wet or cold, right after the "good dog treat" they are ready to snuggle under the blanket. there is nothing like snuggling with a WET hound!

*Warning* Thought Shift...... Does anyone have a working idea for drying them off. Bath towels don't seem to do much, their fur just holds the water. I've even considered trying a ShamWow. thoughts???

Ok, so not necessary but something fun to do. If I do get one I'll be sure to take pictures. May also get her a raincoat to cut down on the toweling off coming in from the rain.

[QUOTE=Does anyone have a working idea for drying them off. [/QUOTE]

Place a couple of soft towels, blankets etc. into the dryer. Place dog inside and set for low heat. Haven't tried this so let me know how it works. Never mind I just saw the posting about being reported to the ASPCA. I don't want the 3 Amigos talking to them. I've been sick for a few days and they haven't gotten their nightly car ride. Who knows what other abuses they might say they have suffered.
