I'm curious to hear responses. We have 30 days of sheltercare insurance that came with MaeMae from her rescue. So I'm wondering if we should insure her after that or if people think it's more cost effective to set aside your own funds?

I have always insured as the thought that runs through my mind is what happens if your car breaks, someone needs help and then the dog needs an operation. Why have to prioritise when paying insurance would mean you can eliminate the majority of the cost

We use VPI, but haven't actually had to make a claim yet (thank goodness!). We decided to get it after we had two expensive vet trips- but only one would have been covered. I feel better having the insurance- after all, Fergus is like a kid to us and we wouldn't skip on insurance for a kid. I think a lot of the companies are the same, but like any regular insurance, I think getting a claim filled will be a challenge.
