Default Top Ten Reasons I Want a Basset

Okay, so after reading and posting a bit, here's something just for fun!

1. I hate vacuuming the couch - HATE it. I think our basset will likely have no problem nosing down into the cushions and eating cheerios left by my son! Vacuuming DONE. Of course....what animal will I need to purchase to get rid of all of the basset hair. Hmmmm.....

2. Speaking of hair, it's pretty high-maintenance. I think life will be easier once I pull all of mine out.

3. I'm an environmentalist. If basset breaks into my garbage and eats it all, that's less to go into a landfill...right?

4. I'm a glutton for punishment. My days are full of little beings that drool and run amok - what's one more??

5. The heating bill is quite high during the winter. I hear bassets make nice little space heaters all snuggled up on the couch. A smart way to save on the bill? I think so!

6. I'm used to limp toddler when my child is opposed to doing something. Why not limp dog? Sounds like a ton of fun!

7. Countersurfing. Maybe hubby will learn to pick up after himself if our basset eats a cell phone or two. Our four year old has successfully taught hubby to keep packs of gum out of reach. Hmmm....

8. My alarm clock is not cutting it anymore. I need a smelly dog to come and lick my face and insist that I drag my sorry butt out of bed and go out.

9. We are pack rats. We have too many things in our house. If our basset eats our stuff, well, that'll save us the effort of deciding what to get rid of and what to keep.

10. Because at the end of a long, fun-filled, crazy, busy day I'd love to look at those beautiful eyes and cuddle up together on the couch (if basset will let me on his/her couch that is).

LOL...I already need a padded cell given what I do for a living - so why not add a basset to the mix - what have I got to lose?

Heehee - I may just drive everyone on here nuts until I get my very own basset. And then I'll have to eat my words with my first of many "free to the gypsies" type posts!

I did. And at least according to the website they will not adopt to my area. I guess I could always email them and see if I get a different answer!

One more just possibly got away from us today. It's kind of hard because we're so far away from all of the bassets we find that we can't just pick up and go meet right away, so it's going to be hard to find the right basset and meet in time before someone else meets and adopts!
