Hi all,
6 weeks ago we picked up a lovely pup called Benson and I thought I would share a few pictures with you. We've been reading this forum before and after getting Benson, to help understand his Basset-isms. He is coming up to 16 weeks old and unfortunately, he has been very ill since we got him. He has had fleas, worms, giardia virus and campylobacter, but he's been so full of beans you would never know. He has more tests this week, so fingers and paws crossed he gets the all clear. This is the first dog my husband and I have owned and the first Basset in the family. Benson likes - belly rubs - chewing things - being in places he is not allowed - meeting new people - barking and chasing the hoover/mop/carpet cleaner/broom Benson does not like - baths, although he gets better with each one - both my husband and I being out of sight at the same time - not being included in everything. Thanks for all the great stuff on the forum. |

Hi Benson and family, welcome to the forum! He is a very cute little guy, and I hope he gets over his illnesses fast!
Please do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here. I have had dogs all my life, but Boomer is my first basset, and it certainly has been a learning experience! But, I wouldn't give him up for anything, although I, (and a few others here), occasionally threaten to "sell him to the gypsies".

Hi and welcome to the forum,
Benson looks like a smart boy. And yes Bella has been sold to the gypsies today, a few times, teenager basset naughtiness at it's height in our house at the moment. She's currently hoovering under the dinner table, stocking up on titbits incase I do follow through on my threats of today. ![]() I think you just have to accept bassets for all their differences, I like to go with the flow with Bella, but we have had a big discussion about behaviour today. Have fun with Benson!! Bassets give the best kisses ever. |

What a handsome boy you are, Benson...Welcome...keep posting the pics. These people have been through most of your illnesses so don't hesitate to ask for advice. They've been there done that.

Welcome Benson! You sure are cute. You keep working at getting better and you can go on the next "Brat Pack" outing...I hear they have a jeep. Ask Wormie.
