So I have been living in Guatemala for seven months now and I am starting to think about when I want to visit home. Wanted to get your thoughts about bassets on plans, security, etc.
I was thinking if I do the trip with patito I would do it in May and for three weeks. Just wondering who has traveled in planes with pups in the past how dangerous it is vs. there are no pounds here and I have trust issues. |

Book early I believe they only allow a few dogs to be on one flight. I have known people who have done it they are kept in temperature controlled areas. I don't blame you I would not board my dog for 3 weeks.

You also want a direct flight You need to travel in times that both airports are normal within temeperature limits 35-85 degrees if it is anticipated that the take off or landing airport is not going to be within these temps then most airlines will not fly the dog. You can reguest the crew to tell you when the dog is boarded as well
Fischer flew from SF in calf to new england with me on a red eye and was none the worse for wear but there usual are a couple deaths a year that occur with pets that are flown. Aso if you dog has anxiety issue about being in strage place, motion sickness trouble being in a crate etx I would not fly that dog. The option to borading is pet sitting it can be less tramatic for a lot of dogs. |
