Default do tennis balls cause tooth wear?

I had read that tennis balls can cause wear on a dog's teeth has anyone else ever heard of this? Barney seems obsessed with them. He has chewed a few right out of wool toys for tem I just wanted to make sure they were Ok. I have only owned small dogs so I am new to this.

oh yes tennis ball covering can cause severe wear on tennis ball obsesive dogs I have seen dogs with the canine worn down to nubs. however there are ball available for dog that look like tennis balls but are not abrasive

as an example Tennis Balls for Dogs
Quote:
Not all tennis balls are created equal! Tuff Balls are the original tennis balls for dogs. These balls have extra-thick natural rubber walls which provide extra durability. And, they're nontoxic—no chemicals are added for bounce as is done with "human" tennis balls and the nonabrasive felt won't wear down a dog's teeth like "human" tennis balls do.

We buy the Kong "tennis balls", and they squeak. They are made strong and it takes the dogs a long time to destroy them.
