Default Basset Hound Owner's Survival Guide

Anyone else read this book? There's quite a few amusing stories in it. After reading it cover to cover I'm convinced that my four year old is a basset hound in disguise. He countersurfs on a regular basis - have had to rehome my stick of butter numerous times. He routinely puts nonedible objects in his mouth. He gives me the saddest pout and eyes when I tell him to do something perfectly reasonable such as brush teeth before bed. And he pitches a fit outside the bathroom door if I dare go into the tub for some r&r - but not for long because he knows how to get the bathroom door open with a butter knife. He has been known to scale furniture in order to reach forbidden food. Why do I have a feeling my four year old is going to be a partner in crime with our new basset family member when we find him/her?

I think everyone should read it before getting a basset.

Also she steals food like its her job. I know its important to remove opportunity and I have tried - but today for example, I came home to find that she had some gotten into a tube of brand new red icing. It had never been opened and was on our kitchen table. She destroyed our carpet (red icing was everywhere) and then has spent the rest of the evening vomiting.
certainly is a training issue but not one that involves the dog

I read it a couple of months ago...am still laughing at some of things she wrote about..since I already had Barney, I really had to identify with them.
