Default Lady Basset Question

So I have never had a female dog and I don't really know about how this works. Charlotte has been spayed since she was 4months old. Today when we were straightening out the bed I noticed some dark rusty brown spots on the sheet and her pillow where she sleeps (right between me and my husband of course). My first thought was that she might have gotten a visit from her aunt flow, but do they even have that at all when they have been fixed for so long?
My second thought would be that she had something, probably pretty yucky, in her mouth when she came back to bed from going out in the middle of the night that made her slobber brownish.
I have checked her up and down and all around and can't find any cuts anywhere. What do y'all think?

Has she had her acrylics (nails) trimmed lately? Annie had the quick nicked and even after styptic powder it still leaked a little blood on her bed. If not that, my first thought would be icky drool, but check to make sure no teeth are loose and no sticks stuck, etc.

Anabelle leaves rust colored drool stains that are generally blamed on her teeth problems and allergies.

Penny had a...big poop one time, then hopped up on the bed right when we got in and licked her booty. Needless to say, there were some lovely stains on my white sheets afterwards.

My first thought would be possibly a UTI. Or, if the spots are really stinky, I'd think maybe a little anal gland stuff got expressed.

I guess since you've checked her thoroughly, you've looked at the bottoms of her ears too? Scully used to step on her ears, and the cuts weren't always obvious at all. The way we would notice was by the little blood marks she would leave on the bed, couch, and even the floor.

Other than that, I dont' know.

Hi Lotties Mom -- depends on what end of her pillow the spots are on.... we too had and still get rusty brownish spots on our sheets. I too thought it was strange until I realized the spots here always at the head end.... it turns out Ms. Paisleys gets grunge in the corners of her mouth. We now try to remember to wash her face before bed or after her supper and get a grungy face cloth rather than sheets!

Spay consists of a complet historectomy so auntie -flow is not possible. Yeast infection are ceneral rusty in color so mixked with any fluid would causee such stain if the spots are small and round it IMHO possibly a UTI or a quick/ bleading the outher source would tend more toward smears.

Thanks for all the imput. The stains looked like drool stains but a rusty brown color. I am leaning towards just a yucky colored slobber because she drools all the time and her chin has been pretty dirty because of it.
I am curious about the UTI suggestions. Charlotte had one when she was a much smaller pup but the only way we knew that was because she was straining to tinkle and nothing was coming out. What about that type of infection might cause darkish stains?
