Sallie threw up this morning and then vomited all morning (mainly bubbles). She hasn't eaten anything (even a biscuit) and is not playing or anything. I have been force feeding her water with an eyedropper. Her vomiting has stopped, but she still will not eat anything and is still listless. I gave her a teaspoon of pepto bismal, that doesn't seem to have helped or hurt. I gave her a half of a Turkey hotdog yesterday. Could this have caused this? Should I put her on the chicken and rice diet or wait this out? I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow (today is Thanksgiving).

If she is keeping fluid down, that's a good thing... Has she drank any more water? Has she vomited any more since you gave her the Pepto?
Generally, they say nothing for 24 hours, and then start a bland diet. Taking her to the Vet is always a good idea, especially if you are worried.

Thank you! She hasn't vomited in a few hours and she is holding water down. I just gave her a mix of chicken broth and water (60 water 40 broth) and she took a dropper full of that pretty well. I'm trying to get her to drink every 15-30 minutes (just a dropper full each time). It's hard being a mommy!

As long as she is getting some fluids and has stopped throwing-up I think you will be fine until tomorrow and your vist with the vet.... is she peeing? Maybe the hot dog has not agreed with her little tummy. .... you know sometimes we panic for nothing.. not that this is nothing .. but sometimes we (me most of all) have followed all the steps -- called the vet , made sure they are taking fluids etc. and get all worked up when we don't really have to .. we just keep on panic mode -- I do this all the time -- not sure if I make sense but do it anyway. Mrs. Sally be concerned but also give her we tummy time to feel better -- the vet is there for you tomorrow and if need be get her there tonight -- in the mean time put Sally on the sofa, stroke her little head and try to relax a bit... trust me I am a worrier too!

Well, we just threw up again. So iksnay on the chicken broth. We're back to water only. She does seem more lucid though. She wanted to go outside potties and she did, although it's dark and I can't see if she has diareaha or not. I gave her the pepto about 2 hours ago. Think I'm gonna stick with straight water for the rest of the night. I'm worried about her getting dehydrated...
Question... We get up very early, like way before the vet wakes up. If she wants to eat, do I let her? |

Sallies Mommy -- I know I just posted but i have to tell you about a Thanksgiving Panic attack I once had with our little terrier Caramel. On Thanksgiving morning Carmel woke up later than usual... my young daughter woke up at the same time and yelled Caramel is having a hard time walking -- well he stunbled dowm the stairs to the kitchen with this huge (2" )blob on his head with eyes half closed and immediately peed on the floor... inspecting his head we were beside ourselves with this floppy lump on his forehead and frantically searched for the on call vet for the Holiday weekend. We were told to bring him straight in as I reported that we thought his brains we falling out... off we drive to this vets office .. crying a river of tears. Upon arrival the vet rushed out and took a cursory look at Caramel and told us to wait while he finished up with a patient. After what seemed a lifetime of waiting with the whole family still crying we were escorted in.... the vet examined Caramel took out a spray can of flea spray and sprayed what we, remember, thought was brains, He then took a pair of tweezers and removed not brains but a fully engorged tick. I still panic over things when it comes to the ones that I love but have also learned to take another look and step back a bit!!! Let me know how you make out with Ms Sallie, please!

Paisley, you seem to have a very sensible mommy! Maybe I just need to put this into perspective. How Do I act when I have the flu? I act just like Sallie is acting. So...I will watch her, give her liquids and turn the worry knob down a volume or two! Thank you for your advice! Oh! I forgot the belly rubs and ear kisses.. Those are the best medicine of all (probably more so for mommy than Sallie)!
And if need be, the vet will always be there in the morning. Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear that Miss Sallie isn't feeling well
![]() I am a worrier as well. Annie has a very sensitive tummy so I'm a total control freak about what she eats. Sometimes I have to remind myself that she eats cat poop...so I guess it's ok if she gets a few extra dog treats from someone other than me every once in a while. Keep us posted on Sallie.
