Default Puppy food

Hi all, it's hectors big birthday tomorrow he will be the big 1! Up unroll now he has been having large breed puppy dry food. I just wondered if the experts thought it was time to move him on to the large breed adult? I know these things can be breed specific so I thought I'd ask.

Jed is on Royal Canine large breed puppy. He just turned 1 year old (Nov 18) and we are going to keep him on the large breed for another 2 months (the bag states till 14 months).

Depending on how fast they grow, mine are normally switched over to regular adult by the time they are a year old.

Hen is still growing and will be on puppy food until he is about 18 months according to the vets - they strictly monitor him for us as he is a faddy eater and a skinny minney [well if you can call 50lb skinny he is lol]! Then its the path to sweet potatoe and salmon grown up food....mmmmm yummy!!!

But more importantly...HAPPY BIRTHDAY HECTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Jed!! I think its up to your vet as to when to switch over to big boy food. Like Soundtrack our vet had us switch over to adult food at 1 year. She also likes to see Paisley at about 45 to 50 pounds so I really think it depends on the pup. Paisley seems to be quite short and quite long and that weight, although her Dad was a huge bruiser, is what our vet recommends for her.

I know his growth plates have closed so he won't be getting taller as he has to be xrayed once every two months, he is due another next week so I will speak to his specialist when I go.

We are in the process of switching Daisy over from large breed puppy to adult at the vet's recommendation. At 6 months, she was already pushing 40lbs and the vet was concerned about excessive and rapid weight gain. I would think by the time they are a year, it should be fine to switch over.
