Default Kicked out of Bed

Hi Basset Pals,

Oh no, i've been scratchy & itchy for over a week now. I went to a new dog park & contracted fleeaz again (after a several month break from them). I'm Frontline Plussed now & got a flee bath.

This time, my person got 10 bites the last 2 nites. she is quite unhappy & threatened to kick me out of bed tonite! help!

well, has anyone gotten kicked out of bed like this & how did it go? the first month home i had to spend the nite in the crate in the living room due to fleeaz. it was fine. the transition from crate to sleeping on my person's bed was quite easy & welcome.

but what about the transition back to my crate at nite? i been so used to sleeping w/my person. anyone have thoughts on how to make this easier? she doesn't want me to be in a crate in the room 'cuz she wants to get away from me & the fleeaz altogether at nite

Hens bed is right at the side of me. He sleeps with me when daddy is gone and on his bed when daddy is home. So long as his bed is next to me he is fine! Try it wormie, you may like it!xxx

Aw Worm....I feel sooooo bad for you but.......ya gotta do what a dog gotta do.....gonna be a long nite for you but maybe by tomorrow...maybe. It's a dog eat dog world out there (whatever that means, sounds terrible to me) so just go and get it over with....you can play the guilt game and milk it for all it's worth.

Maybe try having your mom wear an old t-shirt for a while before bed, so it gets all good and mommy smelling and then coax her into letting you sleep with that? That way you'll smell that comforting mommy smell, but keep those fleas out of the bed for when you're all flea free and can snuggle up with her again.

We like Grace's idea of sleeping with your person's shirt

Also, and I'm sure she knows this, but make sure she washes all her bedding and every stuff you have been on in HOT water to get rid of the flea eggs.

OOO Wworrmie I'm soooo sorry ya gots the itchy bitchies! Try not to scratch too much. Don't know what to tell ya about fleas -- I've never met them so please don't send any in the mail. I guess we don't have em coz they would be fleacicles in the winter. Poor you not getting to sleep with yer ma. Graciees right get yer ma to give you one of her old sweaters and blankees so sleep with. Ya know thats what my ma and pa did when they came to pick me up as a wee pup. They took a purty dog bed and some blankees with them and rubbed them all over my basset momma and brothers and sisters so that they would have their smells on them and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy when I got back here... maybe that might help ya..... you know I HAVE to sleep with my ma too so I know what ya mean -- heck I don't even like sleeping with my humin sister if they leave me with her-- I moan and groan until she puts me into my ma and pa's bed -- well sometimes I make her sleep there with me too. Maybe your ma can leave the tv on for ya to watch or some music to help ya sleep and a few hot dogs and pancakes too would help----- WAIT!!!! maybe yer ma can sleep in the crate and you get the bed -- ya thats an idea.
Night WWormmie -- sleep tight -- don't let the flea bugs bite!

Awww, Worm, that would be said if you don't getta sleep with your momma! I would be so sad if I didn't get to.

I hope your momma can get rid of the fleez fast.

It's easier to just wear flea collars on your ankles than try to sleep without a basset once you are used to them.

CatherineM....you are so right!
I get so lonely...and cold...without my BowBow!

The few times I've not slept with Bowser, he was very fussy the first night...he'd cry after a few hours and I just had to tell him no, and to go to sleep. He would. The next night was easier.

It was funny...went to visit my parents and mom said NO Bowser on the airbed because of his claws. I respectfully agreed, and tried to put him in a soft sided zip up bed...he was horrified. Would NOT go in...and when i picked him up and shoved him in...he stayed in the EXACT same position, and stared at me for the longest time. Woke up every few hours and had to tell him no, as he was fussing.

THe next night?? He ran right in, curled up and went to sleep. Didn't hear a peep from him *lol* Little brat.

(The photo is of "offended Bowser" sitting right by the opening where i shoved him in, and not moving, as he pouts lol)

Hmm cuz your ma did not give you frontline earlier you have to suffer with fleas. I think it is only right that you still get to sleed in the comunal bed and if she get flea bites it might just reminder her that maybe month application to prevent them in the first place is worth it.
