Default Hi, we are new....

I discovered this forum while googling basset hounds. It will be great to be part of a community that knows the unique experience of being owned by a basset hound! Jed is the name of our boy, and he turned a year old yesterday!

Jed is our second basset. Our first Oliver, found the rainbow bridge after 12 wonderful years of human ownership. The house was so empty without him, that within a month and a half, Jed found us.

Jed's "sister" Emmy came into our lives in June. Emmy is a boxer/mastiff mix and absolutely adores her "brother"! They are constant companions, and look quite the site on a walk.

I have enjoyed reading some of the forums already, and hope to learn and share my experiences with you!

Jacquie, Doug, Jed and Emmy

Welcome Jacquie, Doug, Jed and Emmy!

What a handsome boy your Jed is, and from what you can see of Emmy I'm certain she's no slouch either. Keep the pictures coming !

Hello there. Your pair is so adorable. Turtles best friend is a bullmastiff. Turtle is my basset, Marlo bullmastiff, Richter pitbull and Maddie basset/redbone coonhound. But Turtle really only likes Marlo. She's a basset snob as most bassets she is better than anyone else.

And do keep the pictures coming.

Welcome!!! What an adorable pair you have!

My Lucy prefers only other Bassets, but Millie, her best friend is a nearly 100 pound Pit Bull that she has had wrapped around her paw since the day she came home as a puppy. They are the best of friends, and he is the only dog that has never her in her place! :-)

My daughter brings her mastiff over for Barney to play with. Many laughs watching them play. The mastiff is such a gentle giant who puts up with Barney. What a wonderful family you have now.

In my experience that is much more a female trait than a male when it comes to bassets any way

Default Thanks..

Everyone is so welcoming!! Basset pets are the best people! It sounds like mastiff/basset combos are a good mix!! Jed and Emmy also have two pit bull mixes they play with (my son's owners)....life is interesting when all four are in the house!! I am new to forums...so I may er a bit!

This could be true, I have only had females and they have all been like that. When I got Marlo it was to funny because she is ashamed to be alive and Turtle is better than anybody, what a pair.

What a nice pack. They all look so happy.
