My male puppy just went to his new home and they named him Tank but one name I haven't seen on here is Trevor.A boy at the Tommy Hilfiger photo shoot named him Trevor because he didn't have a name yet.

If you can get your hands on George Johnston's Basset book, at the end he lists traditional French and English hound names.[/QUOTE]
Hi Franks mum, can't PM you 'but' are there any other basset book(s) you could recommend. My only two are by E. Fitch (foyles handbook almost as old as me!) & my favourite by Marianne R Nixon. Many thanks |

VV my favourite book still is George Johnston - The Basset Hound. It is an old one but the history bit is great! He was a huge figure in Bassets both hunting and showing - died quite recently ( I think 2008) you can so feel his love for Bassets! I have a couple extra copies if you can't get it. Geez I'm a nerd. You can usually get it on Amazon.

Haha - do you really want the list ![]() The Foyles Fitch-Daglish is a really good little book and was probably the first one on Bassets we had, sold to us with our first Fredwell boy by Joan Wells Meacham who never missed a trick when it came to INCOME George Johnston (pub.Popular Dogs) is probably my favourite, but Jeanne Rowett Johns wrote one - All about the BH (pub Pelham Books) and by Peg (Margaret)Walton The New Basset Hound (Howell Book House) as well as Mercedes Braun on the breed (both these latter two are American). Marianne Nixon's book is good, although I went through her History section (kennels both past and present) and found way too many errors. I wrote to her but she was NOT AMUSED. Proof reading fault. There are other lesser publications of course. ps I think it's time for the BHC to relist the selection available in the Newsletter as I did some years ago now. Enjoy. Gus got his name after the mouse in Disney's Cinderella and Roscoe came with his name.

My favorite book is The Basset Hound Owner's Survival Guide by Diane Morgan. It's an easy to read fun book and always makes me laugh.

LOL Esther, my family is originally from Oklahoma and Arkansas and I have an uncle named Elmer, a cousin named Earl and another cousin named Otis. Some of the other ones are just fun. Oh yea, and Bocephus is Hank Williams Jr.
