Hey guys I have two adorable bassets living with me at my house. The HOA doesn't think to highly of their potty spots killing the grass though. The other dogs in the neighborhood don't seem to kill the grass when they use it as a toilet. Is there anything you all might know about this? anyway we can solve this through diet? or do we need to figure out a way to get them to use other portions of the property for a bathroom.
Thanks so much, first post!!! pics will be coming! |

Yikes, there are products out there to give your dogs that are advertised to keep the pee from killing the grass. But I have no experience or idea how efficient these products are. Perhaps they'll have to find a different "off path" place to do their business.
PS...can't wait to see pics! PSS...welcome!

First – Welcome – and I’m with Annie – photos please – we love photos
![]() Now on to your topic – My Lucy also kills the grass with her urine. I know there are a lot of products out there they say fix it – but I’ve personally never have given her anything as I’m afraid it could cause a different health issue with her. She came to me with so many I just didn’t want to add to her health problems. I’ve just lived with the burnt grass. But in doing a quick search I found the below links that look like they offer something that would help. The first one even says it’s all natural. http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/product_detail.aspx?item_cd=999108&click=5&9gtype= search&9gkw=Dog%20Urine%20Killing%20Grass&9gad=563 8715579&gclid=CMywwfS4mawCFYLsKgodjXxmOg http://www.megagro.com/dogonit.htm?gclid=CP3diPe4mawCFUJrKgodjUf0PA http://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?aid=88 Good luck in your search – I’ve lived in a townhouse once so I know how hard it can be dealing with the HOA. Jen~

Supposedly there are pills/powders you can give your dog to help with that. I have never tried any of them. My big yard problem is Jake does the back foot dig which digs up the yard after he does his business (trying to break him of that). I am hesitant of giving them "supplements" that I don't know much about. The Yard is way down on my list when it comes to my babies.

I know there was something advertised on tv a long time ago for repairing the lawn, which may be preferable to making your dog eat something strange, but this is the closest I can find for now https://www.asseenontv.com/dog-patch...2043&v=outdoor Wonder if you used something like this, would your HOA be happier? Just a thought!

--Worm[/QUOTE] Home owners Association. But usually you can abbreviate the last word and it's more descriptive. Association to Ass. |

I tried the "grass saver" with my previous females. It had no effect whatsoever on preventing dead/burn spots. The best solution we have ever was to wash in the urine with water when they piddle.

I usually bring a big bottle of water with me when I take Porter out. I pour the water over his pee so the ammonia gets really diluted and doesn't leave a burned spot. It really helps. I also do it for my cement sidewalks. It helps to keep the stains off.
