Maggie Mae turned 3 in September and weighs 39 LBS. Daisy will be 2 in January and weighs 35 LBS. I'm hopping to keep Daisys weight down due to her hip dysplasia. Does it sound like were on the right track?

Wow, I think others could help you more than I on this one – it appears I have some big girls…
Lucy is 12 and 75lbs Mabel is a little over 5 ˝ months and about 40lbs Flash was 65lbs up until the day I lost her at 11 years old I do know some Bassets stay on the smaller side as I’ve seen a few at our Basset Waddle – but I haven’t seen many – which worry not – only tells you I don’t see many Bassets. Where we live – we have the only ones that anyone has ever seen. I’ll be interested to see what others have to say – By the by – what does your vet say about their weight? Jen~

The vet says their weight is fine but not sure she is familiar with Bassets. I have only seen 1 other Basset and he is across the river in AZ and at a year weighed about 70 lbs. Not many vets around here unless we do the 100 miles to Vegas.

There are definitely smaller boned bassets. Worm is a little over a year now & 37 lbs last we checked. but he is already heavier than his Ma. His Pa was ~50 lbs or so. And Estha here is 30 something pounds too. I would think it's probably just fine, so long as they are getting enough nutrition & vitamins.

oh yeah, looks like basset to me! just asking bcause if she was beagle/basset would affect what i thought of the weight... 30something pounds is def on lower end of basset weight. maybe the better test is that thing that Mikey refers to, where you look at the ribs & shape & couple different things. that's what they used for me.... my PT thought i was a 3.5 out of 9 or 10, and wanted me to be a "4"

Lucy is about 53 pounds and is 5 years old... She is extremely healthy and the Vet has said its a good weight for her.
Millie is 1 year old, and weighs about 46 pounds... She has smaller bones than Lucy and isn't as tall. I wondered if she was full Basset, but everyone keeps telling me yes, but that is is just petite. So maybe yours are just petite too?
