Default Cone of shame vs. towel

Someone had posted on here that they made their own cones from a towel. I looked it up and in the picture it looked like you wrap the towel around the neck and held it in place with a velcro strip. It looked alot more comfortable but am wondering if it actually does the job.

They also make infatable cones/collars and ones that look like ciervical collars

Wo well they work depends highly on what you are trying to stop them getting too.

The cone is the only devices that works to protected the head/muzzle ears etc. The inftatables and cervical don't work to well for the from feet and legs either but for prevnting them licking injuries behind the head they can be quite effective and less cumbersome.

Here is a picture of Bogie in June 2006 with his home made towel cone. We used it when he had surgery for impacted rock in his intestines. We just took a large towel and rolled it into a long roll. Adjusted the fit around his neck and used duck tape to hold it. We left it loose enough so we could slide it over his head and used a shoe lace to tie it to his collar to keep it in place while it was on. Worked great and kept him from licking tummy stitches.

Thanks for the picture and the instructions. It really does look much more comfortable than the cone. You guys are great...I've read just about every dog book there is but you people know all the common sense stuff that really works. You should get together and write a book on sensible tips in order to survive the basset world. Someone had posted recipe for hotdog cookies which I made for the first time today. Good heavens....they grow at least double when nuking....should save me some money......
