Default The stand off

I have never seen a fly give a dog so long to kill it..Needless to say the fly lived.

Harley snaps at flies around him. It is quite entertaining to watch him try to catch them.

What beautiful pictures! Barney is really growing up fast. We have alot of wildlife up here in the boonies but my Barney would spend hours chasing the crickets and grasshoppers while the chipmunks and squirrels would meander by laughing at him. Now that he's bigger, the hunt is more serious. He'll never catch them but at least they stopped laughing.

Thanks he is getting to be a big boy I have never had a big dog it is so amazing how much they change in a month. He is just the best he came in my life at the perfect time and we are inseperable. If my red dacshund had the chance he did she would have eaten the fly. She loves chasing them Barney gets more irritated when they land on him.

My Eclair is partial to frogs in summer, chases them, barks at them and then barrels the other way. Bassets are all nuts!

My Oklahoma bassets liked toads and gophers. My Florida bassets liked lizards and grasshoppers. My Canadian basset chases flies. There aren't many other things to chase here except birds and the occasional mouse. Hopefully occasional.

It was strange the fly fat there for quite awhile when Barney was sniffing it then it kind of jumped to the ground and then flew away.

He’s beautiful – he’s fixated on that fly – poor guy. I can and do spend hours watching them – I so wish I could tell what their thinking when they get that look in their eye.
