Default Best thing I ever did....

I had posted awhile back that I was wanting a buddy for Barney to play with and mentioned that all your pictures of your dogs sleeping together made me envious...well...ended up getting a little beagle. She's a feisty little thing...must be the "woman" in her. I think eventually she will be the boss. Am amazed at how gentle and patient Barney is with her. They play for hours and wear each other out....which is great! Took them both down to the beach for a walk this morning.....that wasn't much fun but am sure it will get easier.

no doubt about it in a mixed sexed scent hound proping pack what ever you want to call it the females general run rough shod over the males. Barney won't be allowed to breath unles she give him permission. That has been my experience with bassets, beagles and harriers,.

not unless you actively work on it, it is general easir to teach on individual first loose leash walking than trying to teach both at the same time.

How adorable he is so big compared to the puppy. My two female doxies totally rule over Barney.

Her name is Toby. Amazingly her sniffer seems to be better than Barney's. On the walk this morning.....both going in different directions, she dug up a dead fish in the sand.....now Barney had been over this area every morning and never picked up on it..of course, he had to take 5 minutes to roll in it. I read that bassets were second only to bloodhounds but this fish had been buried for quite awhile.

How adorable that picture is of the two of them snuggling on the sofa. Toby is so cute and Barney looks well settled in as his little sisters protector. I am sure they will have many many adventures for you to report on to us.

Congratulations on your new baby and that they appear to get getting along great in a very short time.

I think it’s been about two months now that I brought my new baby into our house and the two times that they’ve sleep next to each other is when the puppy came up to Lucy when she was sleeping and didn’t realize the puppy was there till she woke up – and then the look Lucy gave was priceless.
