For the third time in about 9 months, Fred has let out a long howl, and it turns out that each time he does it, an earthquake was reported! I can't get him to howl for any other reason, I have played Youtube Clips of other bassets howling to him, and he quizzically looks at the computer. But I must say I am impressed with his earthquake radar! We live in Ohio, so it's not been anything I have felt, they barely register a 2 on the richter scale

Personally I am a believer that humans outsmarted themselves with evolution and we lost a lot of our earthly abilities but most animals are still more in tune with the subtle things in the world around them. Dogs can tell when storms are coming, too, which we can say is a result of being able to sense changes in pressure we don't notice.
