Default Maggie and her Thundershirt

Maggie's new Thundershirt. on Socialcam

Don't think she likes it.. haha I'm, obviously, going to give it some time. It seems like it makes her really chill and almost too relaxed, but that could be because it's new and she's just not used to it. The Thundershirts website says it'll give a full refund if the shirt doesn't work - they'll in turn donate it to a rescue. I would probably just keep it and donate it to a rescue around here.

ya gotta try it when there's a thunderstorm or whatever makes her anxious, and see if her behavior's different.

I've read on Thundershirt's website comments from people saying the same thing you did - their dog just kind of freezes or zones out when they put the thundershirt on. Clifford seems to like wearing it. He gets all wiggly & happy when I get it out. He is improving everyday with his separation anxiety. My neighbor who usually lets him out during the day is out of town, so my sister has been stopping in on her lunch time. She said today Clifford did not greet her at the door & she found him sleeping on my bed. When he saw her, she said he looked at her like "yeah, what do you want?" I'd give it more time with Maggie. I also read comments from people saying their dog improved over time.

yeah, i'm not sure it's about making her happy (thundershirt's not a happy pill), it's just supposed to help her anxiety and to keep her calm down in stressful circumstances.

trying to recall.. doesn't Maggie get anxious around other people and dogs she doesn't know? and maybe storms? that's what to measure the intervention with, not if she's happy with it (ie. my dog may not like his pill or antibiotic, but it helps him with his infection...). it just has to help her with her anxiety and nervousness, that's the measure of whether it's working.

my 2 cents-- Worm

ps. Maggie, a burrito!! so cute. and you are making me awfully hungry....

Yes, noises, people, dogs, air... all make her bark and howl. She would crawl under my skin if she could. She seemed to loosen up as the night went on last night so, like I said, it'll probably just take some getting used to. I want to leave it on her all the time for a week or two and then take it off for a couple of days and see how she does.
