Winston's Big Day

I just dropped the little guy off at the vet for the BIG SNIP. Poor guy, he was so happy to be at the vet and get all kinds of attention. He has no idea what he's in for. I've opted for the laser surgery to minimize his pain and hasten his recovery. Added bonus, with laser he can come home today.

Molly is an only dog today and she is wired! She's playing with all the toys that Winston steals from her. I think I'll take her to Petsmart today (far too hot to go for a walk...100+ heat index, yuck!) and let her bask in the attention there. Ahh life with an only dog. But I miss Winston already.

Aww Poor Winston!!! But its a deed that has to be done! Molly McF enjoy your day with Mom but don't forget to pick out a treat for your baby brother when you go to PetsMart -- maybe he will share. Have a good day and since it is so hot I think Mom should get you an icecream or even a popcicle. By the way it is even hot up here but Paisley has gone blueberry picking with her Dad which means she will have more in her fat belly than Dad will have in his basket.

You'll be ok Winston! It's a necessary evil. Well..not necessary...but you know what I mean! Good luck and I'm sure you'll get lots of scratches and belly rubs when you get home. And Molly, you need to let your baby brother rest and make sure he doesn't get too rambunctious.

Mine will probably be going soon. Our vet wanted to wait until he was 12 months. She said with large breed dogs, it helps their bone development. Gandy's getting so big though.

Woody got his done a few months ago....(they wait till about the last set of shots at about 6 months). It never fazed him....it was hardest to keep him quite and he only was there a few hours.

Ms Molly enjoy your girl time with mom and you will be happy to see the little brother when he gets home....give him lots of belly rubs

Winston is home and sore...a bit cranky too, but otherwise doing well. Vet techs loved him but said he made it known that he was not happy to be there and would really like to go home. He's happily gnawing on his new chew stick (thanks, Molly!) and behaving. He can't figure out the cone of shame and it's only served to scare him, so it's on the dining room chair for now.

Winston has a personal question for all you neutered boys: did the dr. leave that flap of skin dangling after the procedure? Mine did...am I a freak?

Hi Winston, glad everything came out okay

A lot of vets leave the sac nowadays. They say it's less invasive that way. I personally think that what breed the dog is should be taken into account--I was shocked out of my gourd when I brought Lightning home to the vet and saw his "remnant". Luckily he was only about six months old or so when the procedure was done. If he'd been any more developed it would have been pretty embarrassing. But once the rest of him started sagging that bit became less and less noticeable.
