Puppy ear question

Hi
I am new here and have a very dumb question. When I look at basset pups at 3-4 weeks old their ears seem very short compared to say 6-8 weeks. Do they "drop" or something?
Sorry for not knowing the correct terminology......

When all dogs are born they are very immature given the same commome genetic ansentry they tend to look similar and it take several week or more for the unique breed genetic to show themselves. so do basset ear as you pups grow disporpotantely fast the answer is yes,
