Any blood test results yet? I hope Oliver's hanging in there and you can get a diagnosis soon- please let us know how he's doing.

It has been a crazy week! The blood test came back and showed that oliver has an autoimmune disease. He is on a strict diet of chicken thighs and the perscription food. We're going back to the vet today and starting him on steroids. Oliver's right side is now hurting. He is having issues using right paw and back leg. His spirit is good though. He is still going for car rides and barking like crazy when he sees the leash. We're monitoring his every move. The vet has recommended colonscopy which we will have done this week as well. Unfortunately, the blood tests only ruled out certain things. The vet told us that he could have cancer becasue his nutrients are leaving his body and he is showing that he is very malnutritioned even though he is eating. We're hoping for the best and thank you for all of your support.

frequent diarrhea
can be the culprit as well It will fush the water soluble nutrients the question is always is the malabosrption causing diarrhea or the other way round.

If addison's this could explain the malnurisment as well.

Addison’s Disease or Hypoadrenocorticism

Low temperature
Low blood pressure
Grand Mal Seizure

...The deficiency of Aldosterone leads to severe depletion of sodium (hyponatremia) resulting in depletion of body fluids (hypovolemia) and potassium retention (hyperkalemia) ...Deficiency of cortisol causes low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia...Decreased secretion of gastrointestinal enzymes causes anorexia, nausea, vomiting, flatulence and diarrhea

Oliver has been on Prednisone 20mg for two days now and he seems to be feeling better. He is eating a lot and wanting to go out for walks. His prognosis is unsure since we still do not exactly what is wrong with him. Next week we're having an ultrasound done so the vet can pinpoint what is happening. The research that I have found on auto-immune diseases is not good. The vet ruled out Addison's Disease on Friday. Thank you Mike T for the advice! He is also still lifting his back right leg. Kind of cute how he hops around the house. He does not seem to be in any pain which is good.
