Once you get something (in this case, a basset hound) all of a sudden you see/hear about them everywhere? I stopped into our farm supply store yesterday for cat food. A gal working there says hey, you have a basset right? Yes, I do. Want another one? I guess the manager's daughter is having a baby soon and doesn't have time for her 1 year old male, so she is trying to find him a home.
Now, I would LOVE to have another one. However, Flash is still pretty young and we need to work with him on us being trained when he needs to go potty. One cat has accepted him, the other hates him. I think a bigger dog would result in both cats mad. Plus my husband says no, we cannot afford two dogs-twice the vet bills, twice the food expense, etc. There are also several bassets listed on craigslist too. ugh...I want them all!!!! |

I know exactly how you feel...I want to rescue a sister for Woody but am having such a hard time not taking them all......then I would be the Basset house...as it is I am known as "Hey, Woody's mom"
. That would change to "Hey, it's the crazy basset lady"

Bassets are everywhere! I noticed them in 2 separate ads in the paper yesterday, then I saw one on a commercial. I love it though. Still don't see them around our town...I know they're out there, I just don't see them.

When we changed the condo rules to allow pets, I made a point of putting in "one dog or cat," because I didn't trust myself.
What gets me is the pictures on the pet products. If it has to do with smells or messes, they have a picture of a basset on the label. I think that is profiling. |

I went to craigslist again today (I know, I never learn!) Between last night and this afternoon, 2 separate pups were listed-one 12 weeks old that isn't papered and they want $150 for, and a 14 week old pup for 50 bucks. Sigh. I keep thinking that would be a great playmate for Flash, but he does good with one of my cats. I enjoy his antics though and I bet two would be even funnier! I need to just stay away from the pets section I guess!

![]() Thank goodness we have the city allowed limit on number of dogs or I'm sure we would have another in our pack. Jen |
