Smuttley pics and a question

I went and visted with smuttley today and the other little babies. It was so amazing to meet mom and dad and the other babies. Smuttle stuck out very much cause he was the only blue one. I have a question and wondering if someone can help.

When i got to hold smuttley and looked into those handsome eyes i noticed that they were blue...like not the other puppies his were alot more light blue. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a basset having blue eyes?, or could his eyes still change he is only 3 weeks old. I have posted a few pictures im not to sure if you can see them. ill try and get better ones. I also posted a pic of mom and dad as well dad has the light coloured eyes and mom is darker eyed girl both are amazing

Smuttley is adorable and his parents are beautiful houndies! I think the topic of blue eyes came up here before, I'm sure someone will have some answers for you but I do not. Thanks for sharing your pictures though!

yes blue eyes do occur but it a highly undesirable trait in the show ring. There is little chance of future eye problems. The blue color is a lack of pigment in the iris.

He's so adorable!!! And both his parents are very good looking dogs. I love his pop's light eyes. Doppler has light eyes too. We think it's the redbone coming out.

If he does keep his blue eyes, he's going to be quite a striking dog.

His parents are very handsome dogs.
