For those of you not in the states (or North America I suppose), and may not know, recent torrential rains caused the Mississippi River to wreak havoc on the midsouth -- from Missouri all the way down to Louisiana. A local basset rescue here in Tennessee, called Belly Rubs Basset Rescue (how great is that name?), was involved in the rescue and fostering of a pair of bassets and, eventually, their darling puppies. The Knoxville paper ran a story on the rescue, and you can read it here:
Rescuing basset hounds, puppies from flooding a labor of love for volunteers Knoxville News Sentinel I just thought I'd share some 'goodwill' amongst basset owners. |

This is a wonderful story. I was getting my mail yesterday and a neighbor walked by with a basset and I found out he rescued her last week. It was a pleasant surprise
