Default Longest car ride ever

So yesterday Bowser, Daisy and I took to the road to drive 1100 miles to Eastern Oregon (from Souther California) to have the dogs stay with my parents while the hubby and I take a 3 week vacation (although it's not a true vacation when I can't be with my Bowser!).
I got to Reno, NV last night, stayed the night and Bowser and daisy slept in the bed with me (because it was scary and there were too many sounds!)

We got up today, and drove to Winnimucca, NV...and stopped for gas and a quick doggy break...to which we returned to the car to find that the transmission had gone kaput! No reverse....i went ahead and put gas in it, and tried to drive down the road anyway, but it was a no-change-gear-you'-re-staying-right-here kind of day. I sighed, parked the car, and called the warranty people. Yes, friends, it's a 2010 Hyundai Accent hatchback...brand new! Only a year old! So they said I had to have it towed to the nearest dealership...which is Back in RENO!!! lol
So, the goggies had to ride in the car, windows down (they loved it) while it RAINED (previously it had been so hot all of us were panting) and now here we are again, in Reno...no gambling, just waiting for the dealership to open up tomorrow to tell me how long it's going to be for them to fix my car.
We're all 8 hours one way from home, and 8 hours the other way from grandma and grandpa's house.
So far, they've had a blast begging me for pizza (on Hyundai's dollar!) and scavenging under the dirty hotel beds for scraps other people have left behind....while I run after them and try to take it out of their mouths. THEN they try to get the pizza while i'm off admonishing the other one. They're working on this together.

SO, i'm kind of miserable, but they seem to be having a blast. lol oh to be a dog!

I hate having car trouble on long trips. I have been stuck so far from civilization, that I swear I heard banjo music. Not a great way to start a vacation for you guys.

LOL yeah i wish my parents didn't live out where they PLAY that banjo music, then i wouldn't be here! LOL
And yeah the kicker is i took my car in a while ago and told them i thought the gears were shifting hard, and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. Whoops! Guess there was something after all! lol

How frustrating! but think about all this quality time you get to spend w/Bowsah and Daisy... one day when life is more dull and predictable, you will look back at this crazy adventure w/fondness, i bet...

oh i'm kind of enjoying myself. I'm not driving, and eating pizza and melted chocolate bar (despite a few licks i had to wipe off) and just about to snuggle in with both of them for the night. hey, it's Friday the 13th (i'm not really superstitious but i don't know now...lol) and i don't know what tomorrow will bring, but you're right! tonight it's snuggle Bowser time : )
Besides next week no matter what I'll have to be away from him so I'm appreciating all the snuggles I can, while I can!!!
My poor boy, what will he do without mama? *sniffle*

I'm at home. I have kids and a husband and all that jazz. Stuck in a hotel somewhere on someone else's dime with the dogs and a really good excuse to not go anywhere actually sounds kinda good.
