Talking Calling all Counter Surfers!

Today Bernie is 6 months old! He has already started counter surfing! YIKES!

So, in celebration of his birthday I thought I would start this thread off right.

We have flat bassets, bassets on their backs & bassets sitting pretty, soooo let's see those counter surfers!

Busted Bernie! Caught red pawed!
(Please ignore all the junk, we have been packing )

LoL! Too cute.

After being in this group for a while and hearing stories of what people's bassets will eat I've tried to always make sure stuff on the counter, tables, etc is always pushed wa-a-ay back from the edge. So far Beldin will *bounce* to try see what's up there but so far he hasn't figured out he can stretch up that far to take a look!

Here's Ninja, from a while back. Apparently we named her well; her full name is Shecara's NInja Stole My Dinner. She never gets anything because Scully taught us very well how to keep stuff out of reach, but boy does she give it her all!

Larsen is one of those rare bassets who does not counter surf. He tried once or twice when we first brought him home, but once he settled in, he never tried it again!

I'm just thankful I don't have hounds who can jump entirely ON the counters, or open the fridge....I know they're out there!

ROFL! Haven't had one on the stove yet but my first basset, Byron, could jump straight up onto the kitchen table. We couldn't figure out why everything would be in the floor when we got home from work everyday until we saw him do it. He was getting up there so he could look out the kitchen window to watch for us coming home.
And he could get a loaf of bread off the counter no matter how far back you put it. lol

Never a dull moment with bassets that's for sure!

We had a basset named Abe in an obedience class once and he ate a whole loaf of bread and whole package of heart worm preventative off the counter when his humans were at work. The owner told he story of being owned by Abe. It was Christmas morning, he came down the stairs and his wife was sitting with Abe on her lap and his response was "please tell me THAT'S not for me". Needless to say Abe won him over and we had a great time with them at obedience!

ole lulu's escapades included an entire apple pie that was pushed to the back of the stove and a bag of chicken wings thawing down in the kitchen sink. the second is still a complete mystery. she probably crafted a ladder out of items laying around, stole the wings, dismantled the ladder and then stashed the wings at secret locations throughout the house.
