Default The longest your dog has eaten?

We did a freezer clear out today and found a shoulder of lamb that my husband said he wasn't bothered with. Rather than waste it, we allowed it to defrost fully then gave it to Opus so that he might retire to the garden.
That was five hours ago.

Last time I checked he was still lying like a squashed toad gnawing away, rather exhausted too!
So I was wondering, how LONG have your bassets chewed on in a determined fashion (it's dark now, I might need to trick him in somehow).

When I first brought home butcher bones, it seemed like Melody chewed for two days straight. I'm sure she must have slept during that time, though....

He will come in very thirsty, very tired, sleep for 24 hours, and have smelly farts tomorrow, but will be very happy.

Spot on Catherine, he came in just after eleven, had plenty of water, climbed into bed and snored until 9 this morning. He has now returned to his previous position and is chewing up a storm. Yack, the bone is now a stringy gooey disgusting mess, but at least he's blissfully happy.
