Default This is sparta!!!!

Yesterday Carlos ran away when my husband received a package from Fed-ex. We chased him down the street and found my neighbor was about to hit him with a stick just because he barked. Now this accident was our fault and we don't live in a dog-friendly country, but that guy does not have any right to hurt Carlos

Oh NO! How scary for you and poor little Carlos! Glad to hear he is back home now though.

I probably would have hit the guy with a stick just for being so cranky. Poor Carlos!

In my country, many people consider dogs as dirty creature. You should see the looks in their face when they see me walk Carlos everyday. They think dogs are disgusting. Helloooooo????? They should really look at themselves in the mirror!
My neighbors even tell their kids that dogs are dangerous and that Carlos will bite them so when the kids see Carlos they run away as if Carlos is a monster. I really don't understand what's on the adults' minds, teaching their kids to be afraid of such a sweet dog???
I tried to socialize Carlos in my neighborhood but they rejected him. Ah well. If they dare to lay their fingers on Carlos I will sue their ass! *ANGRY MOMMA*

I don't know if is possible ,with the mind set they already have, could you talk to your neighbors ,without the pup present, and begin to educate them a little at least about your own dog.Letting them know he doesn't want to bite anyone ,he wants to play,he isn't dirty because you take care of him, bath him ,don't let him mess everywhere ,that you love him because he has a personality,Maybe teach him some tricks to show the kids.Just a sit and down would probably impress them.Maybe little by little they would come around. And if not it is they who are missing out.

Its pretty sad but our new neighborhood is a lot like this. For about half of the complex Charlotte is the mascot and loved by all... and for the other half they cross the sidewalk to get away from her and tell their kids, in front of us, that she is a dirty animal that they aren't aloud to touch. We try and keep in mind that it is just cultural differences but its hard to wrap my mind around people not just falling head over heals for our Charlotte.

Angry momma is right!!! If I ever found someone teasing my dogs or hitting them with anything I'd probably end up in jail for assault! But you're going to be very hard pressed to change someone else's mind for them. I'm sorry your neighbors are like that though. Good luck and I hope Carlos doesn't get loose again and/or hurt because of it.

I can't imagine looking into a basset's eyes and being afraid.
