We are really excited because we are taking Winston to the Tri-State basset waddle in a couple of weeks. Its something we've been wanting to do forever but we haven't gotten around to it. Winston is 11 now and I'm a little worried about whether he can make it the whole way during the parade. Does anyone know where I could get a wagon or cart that we could bring with us just in case?

I would get one of the stake body and for easing of pulling the alterrain models would be better and the pnuematic tires would be a better riding for the dog. but it a matter of taste the use to make pad to go inside but discontinued 2 years now you might find a bargain on ebay or craig list.
as for the reason why it must be a radio flyer is just because it is the american classic is all not some special design feature or anything. note there is a place on the site to find them locally Last edited by Mikey T; 04-05-2011 at 03:54 PM. |

I actually ended up building my own wagon using the wheels of an old one that someone was throwing away. I made it larger than a normal wagon, and sized it so that an x-pen could be fastened to the sides to keep puppies or nervous/excited dogs from jumping out. I used a 2-foot x-pen so I can just lift the dog over it, but I could also use a taller one with a door. I can also attach decorations to the sides or put a cover over to protect them from sun or rain. I've used it in two parades so far, and other walkers made use of it as well when their hounds got tired. It's carried up to four hounds at a time, although three is more comfortable.

It all depends on what you want. I would imagine going to any kid's toy store would give you a wide selection. You could also try a farm and fleet store or a hardware store, they might have something a bit sturdier.
My Radio Flyer has flames airbrushed on the side of it courtesy of my grandfather. If only it were bigger the hounds could ride in style and be the envy of all the other wagoning hounds...

I have been to the Michigan Waddle and seen pictures of another. You could check with the organizer of yours but usually there is a "pooped pooch" trailer that follows the bassets and picks up tired hounds along the way so everyone can finish
Have fun, they are a hoot!
