Just a quick update, Atticus is doing well and we are too! Just yesterday we think he's mastered the door bell indicating that he needs to go outside! Our boy's are really enjoying him but working hard not to be equal parts of the "Pack". Vet visit went well and he's staying calm through the night.Things are going well!

Now if instead you wnat the bells I need to potty then what you need to do is not let him back in until he goes. He will figure this out and not use the signal when he does not have to potty. To follow hint helps in this type of training. potty training Tip Quote:
Keep in mind you only need to do this if you want the bell to mean I need to go potty rather than I want to go outside. There is no right or wrong here just personal preferrence. |

yay for Yogi, too! but beware, what Mikey posted was true for us...
Worm got a little too good at ringing the doorbell. would sometimes ring it just to go outside. but we have shaped that behavior a bit, and now he pretty much just rings it to go bathroom. Last edited by Wworm; 04-01-2011 at 03:25 AM. |

Our mutt whined to go outside about every 30 mins which is one of the reasons we love now having a dog door. He goes in and out all day and all night.
