Question How Big is Your Basset ??

Hi all, I've only been on here a few weeks. Introduced myself back when we brought our Basset baby home from the breeder. She turned six months old this past weekend and is such a joy to our family.

My question is this: How much does the average 6month old girl weigh? Willow is just at 19 pounds now (up from the 15 she weighed when we brought her home). The breeder told us she would be small, as her mother also is small - and that' s fine. I'm just wondering, do we have any idea how big she will potentially be full grown? Is 19# now lots and lots smaller than average or just a little on the small side?

thanks!

Also, I'm trying to insert a picture, having some trouble... WIll keep working on that!

Awww Willow's gorgeous!!!! Bassets seem to be built differently but 19lbs at 6 months sounds very light.....or do you mean 19kgs? Our last lovely old Basset girl we lost two years ago weighed about 26kgs (57lbs) at maturity and was more slender looking than the two sisters I have at the moment who have always been quite chunky (bigger parents and they have always eaten everything, whereas she was so finicky) and weigh 30 and 32 kgs, (66 and 70lbs)which sounds heavy for girls but they are well in proportion according to their breeder, also a friend of ours.

Edit:
19lbs = 8.6kgs
19kgs = 41.8lbs

Wow what stunning eyes Willow has!
I can't remember at the moment what Charlotte weighed at 6months, i'd have to go get her vet records out. But she is 9months now and she weighs just under 40lbs. We get alot of questions about her size, everyone thinks she is a mini or toy basset.
We had to spay her pretty early, right before 4months, because of some other heath issues she was having and our vet says that because of that she will probably never reach her full potential (her parents were in the 60-70lb range). According to her dr she is just about full grown now, give or take a few more pounds.

After seeing what Charlotte weighs, I'm guessing that Willow weighs 19kgs rather than 19lbs...

yep, I think she is a very pretty small boned basset. Go to the thread ' Advice on puppies' 'by Ben H and look at SophieB's videos and you will see what I mean.

Thanks everyone for the comments. We think she's absolutely perfect!! She does have one blue eye, one brown eye, and was sold to us under limited registration, which is fine as we would not have bred her anyway.

19 pounds is correct, my husband and I weighed her just a couple days ago.

Wow 19 pounds is pretty small. Our 4 month old puppy is nearly 25 pounds but we'll find our for sure when we go to the vet tomorrow. Our older female who is the mother or the puppy though is around 60 lbs and the stud will most likely be around 70 pounds or so... he's still not fully mature at just under two.

I couldn't find a 6 month weight of Ella but at 7 1/2 she weighed 26 so she was probably a little over 20 lbs at 6 months. She is now about 38lbs at 1 yr and 2 months, she won't get much if at all bigger than that. She's a small one!

Ringo we got just in March and he is 5/6ish and he weighs just shy of 70, I think it was 68lbs.

Lollypop is now 46 pounds at 18 months. I think she has topped out. She is a small girl, but she can weigh several hundred tons when she wants to go somewhere or when she's sleeping!
