Just continue to be consistent. It's going to take a while. Do NOT scold, rather praise when done right (outside). It will be exasperating, but after a few months you'll all be happy. Good luck and congrat's!!

But is my hypothysis one of the big reason that basset are harder to house train than the average dog is they gain Sphinter control much later. A little Leakage is indictitive of this. However if the Little spots are roughly equivelent of when she normal goes then it is much more likely you are making a classic (common) mistake when it comes to house training as described in Housetraining Your Puppy Quote:
When the puppy is active it need to go much more often so take it out more. |

Invest in one of these if you're able:
Bissell Spotbot Pet Deep Cleaner I bought mine at Target. Really helps with cleaning up messes and you can also use it for other non-pet messes. I vacuum up the liquid with the hose, then put it on the surface stain or set in stain clean mode depending on how long it's been there, then vacuum again when it's finished. Much easier than trying to soak up a mess with paper towels.

I have a 13 week old Male Basset. From six weeks until now we take him out at least every half hour. That is what our puppy manners class told us. We have a bell on the door that he will sometimes ring to go out. We can also get him to pee on command. Lots of treats on going pottie outside. Everyone tells me Bassets are very hard to house train, but he will get it in the end. No one tells me when that will be.
