I feel really sorry for the adult here... poor thing! Just look at the length of those claws.. . she looks pretty unhappy to me and looks like she never gets outside for walks and if she does, those feet are going to be so painful for her to walk on!

Just enlarge the picture to see what I mean!!! What do others think? I'd rescue them all.... Looking at these poor things makes me wonder if they even have nice comfy beds to lie on as they both look unhappy! I hope I'm wrong... but first impressions and all that!!!!

Enlarge this pic to see the poor dog's huge nails! Had she been walked, they would not be that length and if it is because she is walked on grass, any reputable breeder would have trimmed her nails long ago!!! I'm shocked and feel upset when I imagine how some breeders are only after making money and not caring towards their lovely dogs!

The advert says "we ship to the USA....an additional $400" "We are also expecting a new litter any day and we have puppies year round ! I reckon it's a puppy farm and you should go and rescue them all!!!! What reputable breeder has puppies all year round???

Where I live, no breeder would be shipping their dogs/puppies anywhere, as it would be expected that we collect our puppy from the breeder and not have a new dog 'shipped'!!! Maybe some of these people don't want people to see how their animals are looked after.... or not!!!!

Another thing to note...just like the last one they have SEVERAL breeds listed that they breed (think I counted 8!!!) and the picture doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. (Like SophieB noted about no beds/comfy places for them?) I'm guessing they are NOT on the BHCA list of breeders. I would really hold out until you get ahold of someone on there.

On their home page they call themselves a "facility". That sounds like a red flag to me. If I were to buy a puppy, I'd want to buy it from a "home", not a "facility".

I have seen some very fancy setups for high end breeders, but this place really makes it sound like it's more of a for-profit business than anything else.

Don't be afraid to keep asking, I'm sure many visitors to the site will find the info that the experienced owners are giving very educational.

Oh, that poor girl. I wonder how she can even walk with her toenails that long. She doesn't look very happy either.
I don't like that they will ship (I think a good breeder will want to meet the person, just my opinion) and also that they have puppies all year round.
Keep searching. I am sure you will find a good one.
Have you heard back from any of the breeders you emailed?

I'm glad that Yogi's mum and Vonny agree with my thoughts on these poor Bassets!

It saddens me to think of the life I'm sure they lead!

Summit, Have you considered getting a dog through a rescue organization? My dear Chloe came from rescue group and her adoption fee was $100. I know that pups do not often show up in rescue groups, but there are advantages to adopting a little older dog. (Many are potty-trained, have been spayed/neutered, don't get up all night, known temperament, etc.) I'm concerned that some of the puppies you are finding are coming from sources that are less concerned with the health of the animal and more about profit.
