Default Basset a good candidate for a therapy dog?

Is there anyone here have his/her basset as a therapy dog?
I am interested in training Gus. He is very social and sweet. His demeanor is very calm even when he's around dogs that aren't exactly behave well. It would be a privilege for us to be able to do this. But, I have no idea where to start.

A Basset is perfect for a Therapy dog with such laid-back and appealing personalities and they love people too...
