Default Seriously considering leaving this board!

Hi everyone,

I don't know how you all feel about the 'change of ownership' of Cyberhound, but I'm almost done with it!

I get loads of 'spam' on the board! Every second post there is a flashy animated advert (the 'manga' kind of stuff) for 'find your soulmate', 'belly flattening' products,.... etc.
I'm sorry, this is NOT what I'm looking for when I want my daily dose of 'basset relief'.

I realise I haven't been very 'active' on the board the last year, but I've had other priorities (sorry again bout the Basset Hound Holiday Card Exchange). I try to persuade my customers to spay and neuter, to give good education to go to puppy classes, to not use negative conditioning training, etc...

This board is just NOT the 'family' anymore that we used to be. It's overcommercialised, there are too many ads,... Heck, I would not even leave a child approach the board anymore because of the ads!

I created a Facebook group called 'Cyberhound'. It should not be difficult to find...

Greetz,

Patrick

If you are using firefox there is an addon called Ad Block Plus which I'm using to disable all the advertisements. Works like a charm, the forum looks like this for me:

I find the ads very annoying.
I do not mind the Banner too much but the ones part way through topics are very off-putting.

I see the ads in-page, but I don't get any pop-ups. I'm using Internet Explorer 8 though.

I am less bothered by the ads than I am by the lack of traffic this board sees now. It used to be pretty active, with more long-time members (HELLO STEINAR, WE MISS YOU!!!). It's just not very interesting anymore (no disrespect intended for the current posters).

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. The ads are here because they help keep this site FREE for users to enjoy. I'm not aware that pop-up ads are enabled for registered users (if anyone at all). They can easily be blocked (as someone already mentioned).

We have some work to do with growing this community again and I am open to suggestions and feedback!!

Thanks and have a great day!!

Yung

I only see the ads if I'm not logged on & just browsing - except for the banner of course. I'm hoping for more activity on the board and it actually looks like there is more posting going on. I can also block them with Firefox if they become too annoying. If it keeps the board going and we still have good traffic I'm OK.

I do find the ads to be annoying but I guess nothing ever stays the same.

I miss many of our long term members as well.

I don't get any pop up ad's, the only ad's I have are the banners. Which if it keeps the board free then it is what it is.

The only really problem I had with the change over.. was logging in the first time, i had to change my password, but now its no big deal.
