Today was a really tough day. A older man who is a sweet person and a good client came in yesterday with his dog Sadie. She was not feeling well and the Dr. did alot of test. Results were to come in today and she was to come back this morning for an EKG. He came in first thing this morning to tell me Sadie has died last night. He was so sad and he started to cry. I just couldn't hold back the tears. I was just petting her on the head and kissing her yesterday. Then within an hour a guy burst into the office with his huge pit bull mix who just got hit by a car. He decided to end her suffering and put her to sleep. He was hysterical, sobbing so hard he wouldn't leave the exam room. Then he decided he wanted to take her with him. Then a hamster came in and got up to sleep due to illness. What a sad day. We are a busy place so you have to recover quickly and get your emotions in check but this was a really hard day. 3 deaths in one day is too many. I have to work tomorrow so I hope tomorrow is a better day.

I know how hard that can be. But remember that all those animals that went to the Bridge were loved while they were here. That is more than many can hope for. It is hard to lose them - even when they aren't ours but have touched out life in some way. And your compassion will help the owners get through their pain.

Wow, what a difficult day! I don't work with animals, but I do work with premature babies (very sick ones usually). I'm a nurse in a Neonatal Intensive care unit and I know what it's like to have one of those days. And, yeah we have to suck it up and continue with our days. But i think for the families (animals and humans alike) it's nice to see others crying too, that your life has been touched by their little furry one or little baby! Good for you for being a hero to the fury and cuddly!! keep up the good work!!

When I had to have my beloved Chablis put to sleep, I was sobbing so hard that I couldn't talk to her as she went to sleep. So the vet tech did it for me. I was so grateful. I don't know how vets and vet techs make it through a day like you had. But those of us who depend on you sure do appreciate your compassion.

Oh I'm so sorry, I know how hard that can be. I just try to remember that there will always be suffering in the world and at least you know that your efforts are going towards trying to make it better. You can't always win but without you there would be one less person trying. Anyway it was way too hard for me until I made up that little mantra to tell myself on days like yours.
