Here is Francis with his best pal, Nero. Nero is also 9 years old, which is quite old in a mastiff, and a gentler, more placid soul has never existed. He and Francis spend hours just sniffing each other and (slowly, very, very slowly) walk through the park together. One time Francis was sort of prancing through the park and without realizing it he walked right under Nero between front and back paws. Fran did a double take but Nero just calmly watched his buddy without making a move. It was pretty funny.

That reminds me of Sadie with my brother's Doberman. An unlikely looking pair, but best friends!
